She is who everyone tunes in to watch!!!! Such fantastically amusing quips and hilarious delivery!! God is there anyone funnier on television?? She just rips my side with bursts of uncontrollable laughter. She is a social, ironic, comical genius worth every bit of those 6 seconds in the scene. What a tremendous addition to the boring interaction of the other scientists. or maybe not; rather her character is an absolute 'dumbass' interruption to great flowing comedy. I mute her because I already know the only word that comes out of her mouth.
She is the typical overbearing bully that we've all had to deal with at some point in our lives, either at school or at work. Someone we loathe and avoid.
I feel the show needs Leslie. Now before you get yourselves in a twist please hear me out. As we all know Sheldon is socially unaware of his well-being. As to date he has insulted everybody and then some especially at the beginning of last monday's episode. Stating that the future of most if not all the grad students in the classroom could not come anywhere close to his work in theoretical physics. Then comments that the best that all the students could hopefully strive for is to teach 5th graders how to make a make-shift volcano. In regards to this he also continiously insults Leonard's height, Penny's relationship status, Howard's living situation, and Raj's cultural awareness about his own culture. And above all else ruined the idea of this season behind the Penny and Leonard relationship by not being evolved enough as a human being to keep Penny's secret.I think Leslie is a delightful treat to continiously put Sheldon in his place to balance out his social akwardness. And as his mother said "it's okay to be smarter than everyone else but you can't always point it out. Why? Because people don't like it!"
So please reconsider about your ideas about Leslie because without her Sheldon may one day just be asked to get out for good.
But he doesn't do it to PURPOSELY hurt people; he just exposes and points out the obvious and logical which become embarrassing truths. But HER ENTIRE OBJECTIVE is to humiliate and hurt him. She is the only truly awkward moment in the show. Do you need to replay and watch her six-seconds to verify what I said before? Again, I mute her and still know what she's going to say; she is sooo predictable and hateful.
I have to agree with Frida. Sheldon has no social sense and that is part of what make him so funny. Leslie is just a pain and the less she is in the show the better.
Granted there is a difference but do you think Sheldon would accept any form of criticism in regards to improving his social stance. If both Leslie and Sheldon sat down in a manner where they can agree to disagree about their points of view of their work and talk about other aspects. Perhaps their interest in video games, traveling seminars, or even the local comic book convention they could probably get along.
It's like the show "My name is Earl" Where the character of Joy is hurtful but helpful in her remarks. Sheldon can make the distinction between sarcasim and intent. The show wouldn't be so full of insults. And as Kaley Cuoco stated in an interview it's cool to have another girl on the show.
Well, I'll say this; I do not watch ANY sticoms on TV at all except for TBBT. The fact that Sheldon is who he is (an innocent dork whom you can depend on for truth and assistance), yet a brilliant facinating educator to the scientific world is what caught my attention in the first place. Why? Because my son is exactly like him and he has had a girl around him who is vicious to him in the same manner. Guess what? She has been deemed a pariah by the others for seeking to hurt and humiliate him knowingly and willingly. The irony...? SHE is the outcast, not him.
The other thing I'm beginning to wonder about is about your insistence to defend her character on the show...are YOU HER disguised as a viewer? If not, let's just say I respectfully disagree with your point of view. I think we've beat this dead horse long enough. ;-) ...mute button at the ready Leslie.
Yes, let's see how it goes from here. That Wolowitz is a riot too, doesn't skip a beat. I think my favorite show was when they snuck in to Penny's apartment in the middle of the night to clean it up as she slept and Leonard whispered to Sheldon something about Sheldon being arrested for breaking and entering and being judged by a jury of his peers and Sheldon stops cold and says,"Don't be ridiculous; I have no peers." I have never laughed so hard in my life.
OK.. me being in the similar field .. not at the "PhD" degree.. but even at this level there ARE people like Leslie winkle
around bothering. Its not always good thing to counter their previous condescending statement(s).. but I simply like how Sheldon goes head on with that.
This is really interesting; tell me more about what you mean as far as Sheldon's reactions. I would love to know more about the interactions of so many geniuses. I guess I didn't think it must be just like a group of gang members even; there is still a hierarchy lol, and there is always someone who feels he/she must put the others down to show superiority. What do you do in your field?
