Has anyone found the story to which Sheldon is reffering? (Princess Panjali and the monkey) Is this actually a true Indian folk story or is it made up for the show? ? ? Usually if there is a book I can find it, but this one has me stumped !

Thanks !

thanks karinalyn! That is a great link even if the Princess isn't obvious...I went through www.campusi.com , which pretty much find 90% of anything to do with books and didn't get quite here; I suppose my next step is to start finding the books like they list here in libraries and look for Sheldon's story...Somehow I doubt his mom read 13th c. Persian either ! :-)

could he be referring to the book "The princess and the monkey palace" (1990) by Renata Allen for the stage?

Hello.... I've been searching the net and found something that might help the research. It is a exsert from a company who sells historic and legendary dolls and paintings. They state that:

Draupadi, meaning daughter of Drupad, was known by several other names as well. As the princess of the kingdom of Panchal she was known as Panchali. As the grand daughter of Prushata she was known as Parsati. [ Draupadi is ayonija, not born of woman. ] Draupadi is born of fire and therefore, often referred to as Yagnyaseni. She is also called Krishnaa because she was copper skinned, fiery eyed and had long, black hair. She was gifted with blue-lotus fragrance wafting for a full krosha (2 miles) and hence was called Yojanagandha (she whose fragrance can be felt for miles). [ Draupadi alone enjoys the unique relationship of sakhi (female-friend) with her sakha (male-friend) Krishna. She was a true virgin, and has a mind of her very own. ]

Hope this helps... I did some immediate searches on Princess Draupadi and the monkey, but couldn't find anything that would be credible.

Awesome reading but the story line (in the show) seems to be more fictitious than factual... something a friend brought to my attention is that the letter "k" is the funniest letter in the English language; after all this is a sitcom.
p.s. where's that damn monkey...lol
